LENS

Low Energy Neurofeedback System

What is LENS?

LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) is a gentle, non-invasive way to help your brain reset itself. It works by reading your brain's natural electrical activity and sending back a tiny signal that helps disrupt stuck patterns such as anxiety, brain fog, poor sleep, or emotional overwhelm.

You don't have to do anything during a session. Your brain naturally does the work of self-correcting

LENS gently reminds your brain how to be more balanced, flexible, and resilient without you needing to think about it or work at it.

  • How Does a LENS Session Work?

You will sit comfortably while small sensors are placed on your scalp.

The system reads your brain’s electrical activity (EEG).

It sends a customized, extremely gentle signal based on your brain's needs.

The signal is so subtle you won't feel anything.

Sessions typically take only a few minutes per site.

  • Yes—LENS Neurofeedback is a safe and gentle treatment. It uses an FDA-registered Class II device that is 510K exempt, meaning it meets safety standards and is considered lower risk than many other types of neurofeedback or biofeedback equipment.

LENS is non-invasive and most people find the sessions to be very calming and relaxing. With over a million sessions completed, there have been no significant side effects reported.

Because LENS helps the brain "reboot" and adjust itself, some people may briefly feel tired, wired, or light-headed after a session. These sensations are usually short-lived and go away on their own as the brain rebalances.

  • During your first appointment, we’ll take time to get to know you and your unique story. We'll go over your background, explain how LENS Neurofeedback works, and discuss what future sessions will look like. You’ll also have plenty of time to ask questions or share any concerns before we begin.

  • Each session is guided by how you’re feeling and the changes we observe along the way. Your progress helps shape the pace and direction of the work we do together, making each session tailored to your needs.

A 48 hour follow-up is required to monitor any changes or symptoms.

  • The number of sessions you’ll need will be a decision you and your LENS practitioner make together.

Just like fingerprints, everyone’s brain waves are unique—so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people start noticing changes quickly, while others may need more time, especially if they’re working through long-standing or chronic concerns. Your progress and how you're feeling will help guide the pace of your treatment.

  • LENS therapy doesn’t have side effects in the same way medications might. A better way to think of it is like a gentle workout for your brain. Just like your body might feel a little tired after physical exercise, your brain may feel a bit fatigued after a session—that’s normal and usually short-lived.

Most people find LENS sessions to be calming and restorative. Based on your intake and brain map, your practitioner will go over what to expect and let you know if you’re likely to notice any temporary effects as your brain rebalances.

Your practitioner will also keep a close eye on how you're feeling and how your brain is responding. If anything feels too intense or your brain seems overworked, we’ll adjust the sessions to keep things gentle and supportive.

  • No, you don’t need to stop taking medications to begin LENS therapy. However, it’s important to keep open communication with your prescribing doctor throughout the process.

Many people find that after starting LENS, they begin to feel more balanced and may naturally notice a reduced need or desire for certain medications, alcohol, or recreational substances. If you experience any changes, we encourage you to talk with your healthcare provider to make safe and informed decisions about your medication needs.

LENS is a safe and effective therapy for children, adolescents, and adults.
